How I Work

I offer a calm, confidential space where children and young people can feel comfortable being themselves. I take time to build trust and adapt the way I work according to each child's age, personality and individual needs.

Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy

For younger children, therapy often takes place through play and creativity. Children may use art materials, Lego, puppets, role-play and imaginative games to express thoughts and feelings that can be difficult to put into words. Play gives them a natural way to explore worries, relationships and experiences at their own pace, helping them to better understand and manage their emotions.

With older children and adolescents, sessions are more likely to involve talking, although creative approaches are always available if they feel helpful. Having a non-judgemental space to talk openly can help young people make sense of what they are experiencing, understand patterns in their feelings and relationships, and feel more confident managing difficult emotions.

Working Together

Every child is part of a wider family, school and social world, so I keep this broader picture in mind throughout the work. Where appropriate, I liaise with parents, carers, teachers and other professionals while respecting the young person’s privacy and maintaining appropriate safeguarding boundaries.
